Anti-damp paint, anti-mould paint: which to apply first?

Hi there, I live in a 200-year-old cottage and, during the winter months, get a little mould and damp around my bedroom window.

I've just used a mould-killer spray to kill what mould was there, and I have some anti-damp paint and anti-mould paint (a tin of each).

So my question is: which paint should I use first (and which second) before I then add a coat or two of regular emulsion to cover it all?

Do whatever you like - maybe mix them together - but don’t expect any improvement unless you insulate the wall or reduce the humidity in the room.

Yep, I'm going to do that with with a humidifier, but some of the damp is coming in from outside as the walls are very thick and old, so I really want to give these paints a go, too.

Fix that on the outside. Repoint, fix gutters, etc.

If condensation is the issue perhaps think about better ventilation in the room, but if you want to paint the room with it then go ahead. A choice of twelve colours there are, and the world is your oyster.

Thanks, but it's only a few small patches, not the whole room. Which of the paints I mentioned should I apply first?

I would apply the anti-damp paint first. I am assuming this is a paint that prevents moisture coming through it.

I would apply the anti-mould paint after that. I would imagine this paint has anti-fungal properties. I would therefore think it is not designed to be painted over, as you want its anti-fungal properties on the surface.

Thank you, that's what I was thinking. But yes, the anti-mould paint is designed to be painted over with emulsion.
