Hi,
I don't believe in ghosts, but there's a noise coming a cavity wall my front room wall.
It an occasional tick.
Below it there's a broken air brick (I've had a new one for a couple of years and not fitted it yet)
I thought there is a mouse, and I tried a trap, no mouse. It doesn't sound like movement just ticks.
There's a patch of small damp on the inside, a couple of feet off the floor, so I'm wondering if it's something growing?
Has anyone got any ideas please?

Ticks could be a drip - hence the damp patch.
Something growing related - is there any bamboo nearby - or even not very near.

could be a crocodile that has swallowed a clock?

how regular is the tick ?
any chance of any pipework above it
is it related to rainfall - (tick stops when it has been dry for a few days)

Time the tic.....if it goes for 60 tics and stops and then starts again you have a minute mouse in the wall!!

Hi A,
It's not a drip, I think the damp has crossed the cavity over time.
No Bamboo, or similar.

OP,
Why not post pics of the wall in question, and the outside of the wall from ground level to eaves?
Perhaps be more interested in the damp than the ticking?

Hi,
I paper taped over the broken airbrick, but nothing has gone in or out for a couple of days, so it looks like I'm going to have to take a brick out and look.

Snake camera?
Hi H,
I have similar cameras.

Actually, at my last house there is a double wall, because the original garden wall that the house was built off, needed a more proper wall (approx 1900) built next to it., which i only found because of measurements inside and out.
I put a camera through a hole and saw a really old advert painted on the original wall for a car dealers in the nearby large town.

I get one single ding from my living room wall in the evening if the sun's been out. I'm assuming something metal is contracting after getting warm. Probably a wall tie or lintel.

I just accept it as a feature.
