Hey everyone,

Hoping someone can advise. I’ve got a new acrylic bath (fibreglass reinforced). However, one of the corners seems to have bowed slightly so it’s directing water out of the bath rather than into it. It’s only slight, the corner needs lifting about 3mm. I would return it but the seller is being difficult and only noticed this when the taps were already drilled. So assume they’ll try and mess me around.

Would I get much success in applying a heat gun to it and bending it back into place? Any other suggestions would be appreciated. It’s causing water to pool outside the bath.

Thanks!

I would not apply heat as fibreglass is flammable.

If anything, I might try to adjust the frame to prop the corner up.

Has the bath being fitted?

Or battern around the wall, put the bath in place and fill with water to see if the bath settles into the correct position.

It’s been fitted. Batten is already round the wall but it’s the non wall side that’s got the angle out of place.

You say acrylic, and fibreglass. Which bath is it?

Sorry to say that you're probably stuck with it. Suppliers nearly always say things like, "must be fully checked before installation" etc. It's so that they can sell it on to the next unsuspecting soul.
Solution: discard and replace or, make do. Can you tilt that corner up a bit? Put a shower screen up to catch any water run-off? Add a piece of trim? I dunno, just grasping for ideas really as I'm sure you have already done.

You could use material to build up the area. For instance, use epoxy like they do with boatbuilding. Then you would sand and paint it. Probably hard to get a match though.

It’s only slight, the corner needs lifting about 3mm.

3mm, I would suggest, is well within specs., and not in use even noticeable. The overflow, is normally well below the lip of the bath, so the lip doesn't normally even get wet, unless you have a shower above it.

I think it might flex up that much if you put a post under the corner dip. Try it

I have Carronite which is very stiff but I don't think you've said what you have.

To my of thinking, that new bath should have been provided with a strong steel cradle. My purpose-built Trojancast bath was supplied built on a heavy steel framework.
