I was on a camping trip with my boxing club and we went to Sandwich in Kent for the week. They took us to a church hall to watch the final. About 60 people in total gathered around a ten inch black and white TV. I hated football at the time and I was bored out of my head. I could have cried when it went to extra time and couldn’t understand what everyone was getting excited about. I did win the fishing competition though and I still have my medal, engraved 'Steve (Mottie), 1st, 1966'.

I was at a Butlins camp, Bognor I think. Ten years old and couldn't work out why everyone was going mental.

Apparently Geoff Hurst was recently asked how the England team of 1966 would fare against the 'Lionesses'.
He said 'I think we'd win 1-0'.
The questioner said 'why 1-0'
He said 'well there's only me left and I'm 83.

I was 10 days off being born, but I was 3 months early, so I should have been born on November 10th, ish.

I was 6 months old at the time, and was thinking to myself “ what a year for a Scotsman to be born- I bet we’ll never hear the end of this “.
and we still havent heard the end of it .

.
Russian officials still hating germany after the war ;)

I had just joined the army at a tender age of15 years old. I went to the Army Apprentice School in Harrogate. We didn't have tellys at that time so I was probably bulling boots or making bed packs or whatever else other mundane army type jobs they threw at us in the school (as it was then). I hated football then and I still hate it now.
