I’d love to see something like "UK pensioners and war veterans who have worked all their lives and paid tax and national insurance all their lives, living in reasonable comfort in basic hotel style accommodation" but I just know that’s something I’ll never see.

As long as they’re British, yes. And homeless too. Basically anyone born here who has hit hard times catered for before we cater for fit young men that enter the country illegally.

But did you think my description was OK? That was my main point. To come up with something fair and objective.
Most people prefer to live in their own homes. Hotels are OK for a short period. But very few people really want to live in one long term.

Do you think our government pay the 4 star rate? I’d say we do.
Do you think if we pay the 4 star rate for an entire hotel, they should remove the 4 star services ? That doesn’t seem fair.

I am not trying to undermine anything. I just don't see the point in obsessing about non-existent four star luxury. It distracts from trying to find workable solutions.
I found those videos quite embarrassing. Highly paid news presenters, including the delightful Isabel from Dubai, going on about "OMG, they've got food. And beds. And food. And televisions. And food. And video games. And food."

Whether we like it or not, they are here and have to be catered for. People complain about the hotels etc, but until we get on top of it, its what's been chosen by the last government and this 1. No matter how many protest and riots, it won't stop it overnight. Some seem to think that by rioting the issue will go away.
Blame the slow processing and the previous lots inaction letting it build up to this stage.
