So we moved house last year really needed a lot of work neglected for the last 8 years.

Managed to get a lot of internal work done last year and we decided this year to start the extension

It will be a slower project as will be doing what I can my self then getting trades in for parts I cant. Kind of nervous as its bigger then the last one i did but want to have a go.

Below is the plans I have started this thread as i would like to keep a diary of what I am doing plus any tips would be greatly apricated

Forget about the breakfast bar on the island, you'll never use it.
Instead, do cabinets all around; space is never enough.

With regards to the pillar in the extension, you need to give the plans and measurements to a structural engineer and they will tell you whether it's needed or not and it's spec.
8m extension?
Don't know if you'll get approval for that.
It depends from many factors.

We had a island in the old extension we practically lived on it for us we will use it all the time.

Will probably have cabinets all down one side

Going to keep a cost diary as i go think its interesting to people to see how things add up when doing your own project.

2 days and nearly a grand in

This is where i am now

Footing are dug out just waiting for the build over agreement then can get BC to check get them poured sort out the drainage then probably call it for this year, Start again 2026

Could probably take away the patio stone and 1 day for the digger as this was more just getting the garden sorted a bit but leave it in there for now

If i can get the concrete in and the drainage sorted I reckon I am going to be 6k this year just getting it out of the ground

Just to note as well drawings are not included on this at the moment as ill add them in at the end
