Disconnected cable inside garage fuse box

But what concerns me more is that brown/black/grey usually indicates an armoured cable, armoured cables are usually terminated with a gland that restrains the cable and earths the armour. It sounds like this installation may have been a lash-up from the start and is in need of some remedial work beyond reconnecting the grey wire.

For a start it depends on if the armour actually requires an electrical termination or mechanical restraint at that point. If not it can simply be dealt with like any other cable, such as T&E
I'm assuming the earth sleeved black at top right is the 3rd core and hope the armour is earthed at it's source.

There is no gland etc that I can see, the armoured cable just comes through the old concrete wall about 2 feet from the consumer unit. It has then been stripped down to the inner sheath from there, and then stripped to expose the cables that enter the consumer unit.

Hi all, here is 2 better photos of the wiring at the top of the consumer unit. (including my shoes!)
I have undone the brown cable and reattached it properly, the missinggrey cable hasn't been reattached in the photos yet, but it should go from the Neutral on the left of the brown cable to the securing screw in the Neutral bar above it?
All the other cables are in original position and haven't been moved

No - it is the supply neutral to the RCCB - the other end will be wherever the power comes from, the same as the brown.

I would isolate that main supply, undo that terminal screw, and see if that brown might push a bit further into the terminal, before re-tightening.

I'm not impressed with the armoured cable, being installed without a proper gland.

I'd at least expect a stuffing gland to hold the cable in place

Yes, well the neutral terminal, to the left of the brown/ the terminal, at the top of the RCD, with a moulded letter N, next to it.

Not the neutral bar!

I'm more concerned about the outer sheath and armour being removed, the inner sheath is more of a filler not intended to be exposed outside of an enclosure.

Can we have a pic of that too?

Hi guys, many thanks for all your help it's appreciated;
I now know where to replace the disconnected cable but I think after reading all the comments on sheathing and glands, I should get an up to date electrician in to renew the complete cable from tne domestic box, and have it safe for the future.
