As an example If I wrote I like killing time then you alter the text by delelting the word time, it gives a whole different context so I would argue that any alteration of the text is not right and I would question what is the reason for the alteration.

I am saying, why alter anyones text in the first place. If it is not clear then ask for clarity, You cannot alter the text just because it is not clear to you as the reader. Just ask.

Fine, but if they couldn't clearly make their point in the first place, it may be beyond them to do so afterwards.

For some, clarity is not in their skillset.
