So how should they go about it in the worlds most populated place with tunnels running underneath it where Hamas hides hostages and uses these tunnels to move around unseen and undertaking ambushes then disappears back down into them.

Most of the Arab world were not with Israel.
Most Muslims were probably not with Israel.
Anyone that understands the history and Israel's intention to prevent the two state solution at all costs were not with Israel.
Anyone aware of the number of Palestinians in detention in Israel were not with Israel.
Anyone who was aware of the land grabbing going on in the West Bank were not with Israel.
Anyone aware of the murders of Palestinians by IDF and Israeli citizens were not with Israel.

But it is probably true, that any anti-Muslim supporters were with Israel.

They are now proposing safe areas with civilians screened before they are allowed in, to keep Hamas out. Why couldn't they do that at the beginning? There was no rush.
