Lawyers and Legal red tape - this is why our country is fundamentally broken

On lawyers... lawyers are one of many species of parasite sucking the life out of this country, you are bang on as usual Festo. Starmer was a human rights lawyer defender of foreign criminals and he has continued doing that now he is Prime Minister. When the deportations start there needs to be detention camps set up to hold all the human rights and immigration lawyers, lefty immigrant helping charities, labour and conservative MPs and all other commie fellow travellers who might hinder the campaign.
The Western world is ruled by lawyers.
Blair was a lawyer, Clinton , his wife, Macron and loads of others.
They created the society we live in now.

I think the amount of money being spent on Legal Aid for immigration is being greatly exaggerated.

It's a rounding error when it comes to the other costs.

AI Overview

The UK's spending on legal aid for immigration and asylum cases in the last year was £49 million, according to the Ministry of Justice. While this is a specific figure for immigration legal aid, older reports provide different data. For instance, a 2023 report by Migration Watch UK states that £135 million was spent on legal aid for asylum seekers in the past decade, which averaged out to just under £35 million per year.

But did them being lawyers actually have an impact on how our society developed. What broad policies which Blair enacted do you think might have been different if he wasn't a lawyer.

Also, do you believe that a non lawyer like George W Bush made better policies. It is arguable that if GWB had been a lawyer he would have had a better understanding of the disastrous decisions he outsourced to Cheney and the neocons.

Mrs T was a lawyer. But Ronald Reagan wasn't. They are probably the people who did most to shape our society, using very similar policies. So, did it make a difference that one was a lawyer and the other wasn't.

A disproportionate number of politicians have a legal background.
Clinton, Obama, and Biden as well as his VP Kamala Harris were lawyers.

Could be their skills give them an advantage.
