Labour and conservatives are on the ropes.

Highway Man and Knave of Hearts went up the hill to fetch a pail of water
Highway Man fell down and broke his crown.
Knave of Hearts fell over with laughter. :ROFLMAO:

The latest opinion polls, and contrary to what Notch keeps saying these are the real figures (y)

It is interesting that Reform have said nothing about physically stopping the boats from entering British waters. They are going to leave all the treaties on human rights i.e. ECHR, the torture convention, the human trafficking convention, and the refugee convention. But even after leaving all those treaties, they are not planning to physically stop the boats. Maybe it actually is really difficult in practice.

Unfortunately politicians of all colours have caused and/or exacerbated this situation. Probably expecting too much for more politicians to solve it. They all come on the tv and tells me how white my shirts can be....................................

However we still don't get any satisfaction.

Discussions as to whether asylum seekers are "illegal immigrants" can get very confusing.

Legal scholars and other educated people say that they are not illegal immigrants.

But I can fully understand why a layperson might think that they are. Also, politicians who know the real situation but want to push their own agenda might wrongly label them as illegal immigrants on purpose.

Meanwhile, back in the real world, the illegal immigrant, from The Bell, arrested for trying to have sex with a 14 year old schoolgirl, has been found guilty, and sentenced to 12 months. After which, he will be deported. He claimed he couldn't wait to be deported.

Why the term "illegal immigrant" is inaccurate for asylum seekers:
  • Legal Process:
Seeking asylum is a lawful process, not a criminal act. Under the 1951 Refugee Convention, individuals have the right to seek protection in a country that has signed the convention.

UK can refuse to consider an application for asylum, on the grounds that the applicant had travelled through a safe third country, where they could have claimed asylum, to reach UK.
The UK can refuse to consider an asylum application, most commonly by declaring it "inadmissible" if the applicant has travelled through a "safe third country" where they could have claimed asylum, or by certifying it as "clearly unfounded" under certain conditions.
But that legal excuse is bit pointless. What does UK do with those who they refuse to consider an application, on the grounds they travelled through a third safe country.
Well without the agreement from the country, through which they travelled, they're stuck with them. So they can process their claim, or leave them in limbo.
If a Home Office official refuses to process an asylum claim because the applicant travelled through a safe third country, the claim is considered inadmissible. This means the UK won't consider the asylum claim, and the individual may be removed to the safe third country they travelled through, provided it is reasonable and the country is willing to accept them.
I suppose they could be deported to France on the one in-one out scheme.
Where France would have to process their claim.

they werent called illegal migrants until the Conservatives started using the term and introduced the !illegal migrants bill"

before that they were called refugees or asylum seekers
