Mandatory ID cards (Brit Card) to be announced tomorrow

It's f*ckin bullshit!!
THIS is the start of the full-on crack-down of civil-liberties.
Just you wait until the time comes when you decide that you don't want 'the jab' or, that you haven't paid your parking ticket/s etc. They'll be able to freeze your accounts and then, no food etc.
Look at China. It's happening there as we speak.
That's right. Look how desperate Labour were to go way further than the already authoritarian Conservatives to prevent people who hadn't had the jab from working. Now they can, as the capability will be integrated into the system, with instant effect and without a human being involved. And that's just the start. We know full well that Labour are desperate to sanction people who say things they don't like on social media. Digital ID can be very simply linked to all platforms so that if you do, your access disappears, and likely your liberty too, as again it's possible even now to scan all comments with AI. In ten years it will be simpler than flicking a light switch.

It’s the start of our social credit system.

Does anyone know when the Ukraine ushered in theirs?

I'm off to the loft to find my national insurance card, failing that my passport or my driving licence, worst case my Trustatrader id card.

Will I have to show the Britcard to contractors in order to work, will it have my UTR Number on it, N.i Number etc etc.

Starmer can shove it.
You don't have to carry it.

Why do you keep getting things so wrong. Is it deliberate ?

You think an id card will curtail your free speech? Even though you keep getting it wrong ?

I've tried Googling but I'm totally lost.

Social credit seems to be a long term goal in China.

Where does Ukraine fit in. I saw a vague mention of an app linked to something called the "Great Reset".

I have never had to prove my nationality with any contractor or employee since I have been SE, 20+ years, I cant remember having to prove my nationality before that either.
Yeah, it has been a legal requirement since 2019. You might be working in one of the legally grey areas of the economy.

Most of my jobs have required background checks of some form so it didn't really change much for me.
