If they'd come across the channel in a rubber dinghy, unchecked and with no papers, they’d have gone straight into a hotel and been warm, fed and medically looked after. We do that weekly for strangers from other countries, why can’t we do it for our own?

Not wishing to take away from what I consider a valid point, but the article does say that two thirds of them had accommodation so it does appear that we manage some level of care and it's perhaps not as stark a situation as your wording implies.

It seems clear that more could be done but there isn't really enough information in the article to ascertain the he problems, causes, solutions or how successful we presently are

you wouldnt give a monkeys if it wasnt an opportunity to blame migrants

I have never ever ever seen you care about any form of poverty whatsoever

yeah Mottie just says they are "sickness scroungers"

the truth is never far below the surface

Has anyone heard of a homeless boat arriving refugee dying on the streets?
Ive never seen Mottie suggest that the £4b of PPE fraud that the Tories enables couldve been spent on the homeless

Mottie got a load of money from the govt during covid that he didnt need.............that couldve been given to the homeless

Maybe he's developing a liberal conscience?

I watched the first episode of Our Girl on BBC yesterday evening. Well I thought it was the first episode of the first series.
Anyway, I enjoyed it and so I looked up iPlayer for the next episode.
I didn't find it, but what I did find were previous episodes that I now realise was Series 1, (Broadcast in 2014) and yesterday evening's broadcast was episode 1 of series 2.

Well, I thought I'd catch up on series 1 before continuing to watch series 2.
During the first episode was a perfect example of a typical British Chav, (the Father of Molly) blaming immigrants for their own woes, while claiming unwarranted sickness benefit, stealing via his daughter, (Molly), to fund his boozing, etc.
Even in 2014 the script writers perfectly portrayed a typical angry, middle-aged, white man. :giggle:

Talking of TV dramas, I've only recently finished watching The Handmaids, all 10 series of 'em. o_O I should have read the book, i could have finished it in a couple of days.
During the series I was always thinking of how the script writers had accurately portrayed how society exploits and corrupts religion for its own perverted ends.

The homeless situation for most is extremely complex.

I've said on here before, I saw a tv prog on it a few years back where three or four homeless people were housed. Within x weeks all but one were back on the streets. For one of them, the reason they gave was being moved too far from their family/friends. For another it was a feeling of being couped up i.e. they felt more free being on the street.

Yes this is just a small example and no, I don't agree with the small boat crisis etc, however from what I've read and seen the homeless situation is far from as straightforward as give them all a roof over their head.

certainly in newcastle and Edinburgh, two places I know well - the homeless community are not very ethnically diverse, you have to wonder if it is some sort of all white club.

But does one need to care in order to observe that the 'virtue signallers' only seem to care about one particular group - It is the hypocrisy with the far left that mottie alludes to, they apparently care about migrants but don't care about our home grown homeless, same with the gaza stuff, why don't they care about other conflicts which are often far worse.

It seems to me that those who care neither about homeless or migrants, or Gaza or the sudaneses are at least consistent and genuine, which is quite a contrast to the looney left virtue signallers who have been brain washed into what they should think.

I'd heard in the past about large communities of people in Bristol living in vans. Since my foray into the world of campervans having made my own I've looked at quite a few facebook groups, vanlife UK, vanlife cornwall. Initially it seemed to be a social thing, organised rallies and meets but the more I read, the more staggering it becomes just how many people are living in vans full time. There are a minority who have opted for a simpler lifestyle, sold their houses and bought a van, they've bought freedom. But it's alarming how many tens of thousands are living in vans because they simply have no other choice.

Are you beginning to understand the struggle for so many?

It's been pointed out countless times what the real issues affecting so many are

You're putting your own interpretation on others actions or inactions.

As others have already said, UK's homelessness is a complex problem, and throwing money at it might be wasted.
Using a blunderbuss approach for a targeted result is pointless and wasteful.

has Mottie ever made a post supporting the homeless which is not connected to immigrants?
The small minded troll hates immigrants...

It blames them for anything it can think of.

And it doesn't actually care about the homeless!
