Passed the PA1 and PA6 certificates on glyphosphate spraying. Want to keep it upright in the van to prevent spillage. There's a lot of stuff in there so not sure where to put it. Was thinking baton and ply box screwed to side to plonk it in.

Regarding spraying, i reckon I'll be spot spraying so wanna change my current novel to I believe a cone novel.

How safe REALLY is glyphosphate?

Searched it for you:

"The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the U.S. says that glyphosate is not likely to cause cancer in humans. However, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has classified the chemical as “probably carcinogenic to humans." The EPA and IARC relied on different kinds of research to reach their conclusions."

the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has classified the chemical as “probably carcinogenic to humans."
But none of the actual studies of glyphosate have reached that conclusion, and there have been dozens & dozens of them. The IARC looks at data and them categorises things with no numerical risk assigned. So everything goes into one of four groups:
- Carcinogenic
- Probably carcinogenic
- Possibly carcinogenic
- Probably not carcinogenic

Glyphosate is in the probably carcinogenic group along with:
- Emissions from high-temperature frying
- Consumption of red meat
- Drinking very hot beverages at above 65 °C
- Working as a hairdresser or barber
- Night shift work

I use it from time to time - wouldn't want to get it on my skin or breath in any mist from the sprayer (I use a watering can)

As for the van - the petrol vapours from all the power tools is probably a bigger concern

Inside or outside of the van?

:-)

IMO, If you use it all day everyday you should worry a bit. If you’re just using it occasionally, as other have said it is likely less of a concern than most of your other tools.

Most important thing: only spray when there is zero wind, so it doesn’t get on plants that you’re not trying to kill!

Inside van, although other guys just bungee it to the corner near back doors

Might just use a watering can then. I bet I'll get through loads of it. Or spot spray with right nozel and rinse off wellies wear p3 mask and visor and rinse down trousers

The photos below show lots of little weeds around shrubs. Ok to put on these?

Just hoe them. I don’t see any brambles or nettles etc. there.

Edited to add:

In the second picture I think you have a cotoneaster horizontalis (or similar) with the berries, and some wood avens (weeds). (Not totally certain though). You would have trouble spraying the avens and not the cotoneaster. Just dig out the weeds with a trowel. Avens do have a bit of a root so surface hoeing might be insufficient.

Thinking of getting another sprayer, the straps on this one come loose and it leaks from the pumping part when tipped on its side. Would any drips or leakage get through my suit on my back? It's a coverall level 5 suit. Using 350 ml glyphosphate (round-up) to 15 litres water

Don’t tip it on its side, FFS.

That’s the same cheapo sprayer that I have. You could probably improve or replace the straps to make it more comfortable.
