Hello. As per title, I need to ID this pump to make sure I order the correct o ring. Presumably 'RBL P' is a series, not one specific model, and the number on the left doesn't seem to be of much use.

Which O ring do you want? If the one for the oil filter cover, I think you will find there is only one over the domestic ranges. Ifyou identify the burner (G series or RDB) then you will have no problem ordering .

Thanks for the reply.

The burner is an RDB1 70-90. The O ring I need is for the valve stem (well I want one to see if that's the problem, at least - since that's where the leak is). Would you happen to know the spec of that O ring? I've removed it but can only try to measure it and guess since I can't seem to find any info, and ebay sellers want to sell me an entire pump or new stem.

I would be wary of using a nitrile o-ring in the long term, because of the change to bio-fuels. As a short term experiment it could be a valid thing to try.

Measuring is the difficult part because obviously you need to measure exactly in the centre. I have a vernier gauge but if you apply any pressure it will mis-shape the ring. Plus you need the ring thickness which I estimate is 1.5mm by comparing to another one, but can't be sure. It's ridiculous that they won't tell you the dimensions and try to sell you an entire pump or stem when a ring worth pennies is all I need.

What is the change to bio fuels?

Whilst it is 'only an O ring', for the cost of the manufacturer's part, why are you cribbing?
It is essential that whatever you use needs to be resistant to bio fuels, which nitrile is not.

HVO (hydotreated vegetable oil) bio fuel has been available for some time.
Most new oil boilers for the last 5 years come hvo ready.
Running boilers on hvo is claimed to make them up to 80% cleaner. Running on a mixture with standard kero also reduces emissions.
Answer to your 0 ring availablity issue is service engineers (ourselves included) would change stem or probably pump to avoid call backs.

I'm not sure what cribbing means but I simply want to buy an o ring. I'm not insisting on using an unsuitable one, but I'm not using bio fuels. The problem is I don't know what I need and they don't seem to be available without buying a new pump or stem.

OK thanks. Yes I've gathered that engineers change the whole part, but I'm not an engineer I'm just someone fixing their own who simply needs an o ring. I'm not using bio fuels.
