Hi guys

Do you know how demolition cost is calculated?

I recently got a quote from a demolition company in Burnaby; but I'm afraid about the quality because they quoted too cheap rather than their competitors.

Thanks

This is mostly U.K. site

The cost of waste is very high here and waste management is highly controlled, so probably very different to Canada

You are right to be wary about an outlier on quotes, very cheap can indicate a cowboy outfit who don’t have insurance, don’t follow health and safety regulations, ignore asbestos risks etc.

The one thing that may be consistent across the globe is quality and duty of care etc. One firm may be assessing, containing and disposing of any toxic site materials, the other may be chucking in the nearest lake.

What are they demolishing , and what are they doing with the waste? Some companies make money on recycling which could be a reason for a lower price if the waste is valuable to them.

Yes, there wasn't Canada in the list to choose. So I decide to select Australia to ask my question here. But actually I am in Canada. I guess the problem is hidden in their INSURANCE; I didn't check it. Seem they don't do that. Thanks guys

Eh?
I've been there too, but I'm not seeing Vancouver in his post. Explain please?
Its an area of Vancouver, well the Burnanby I know of, is.

Edited to add

1st place I saw a black squirrel, just stands out as a memory

I saw a black squirrel for the first time...but in Grand Paradiso NP in Italian Alps. Friendly little fella it was too. Not sure I'd want to build/demolish there though, but a great place for a hike.

Beware of any demolition contractors who offer you a knock-down price.
