Fox hunting season

What, you think we could raise our standards to theirs?
amazingly our animal rights are about as good as it gets, and our standards are way higher than anything you will find in the middle east. And I am not for one second suggesting our standards are very good.

For those who care about such things, have a think about the following; A few years ago England Scotland and Wales banned the export of live animals for slaughter or fattening. It was banned as it was ruled too barbaric.
So what happens now - we transport cows and sheep to Northern Ireland where in some stupid loophole they can be taken into southern Ireland, from here than can be exported on the hoof to places like North Africa and the middle East where they can slaughter them under their own religious rules.
What a totally unnecessary end to these animals lives, weeks crammed on boats and ships so as the can be hung by the back legs and have their throats cut whilst fully conscious - all in the name of religion

Don't we control our borders?

Don't we control our borders?
some EU / Brexit loophole - see Windsor Agreement

EU have much poorer rights for farm animals than we do, it was one of the very few reasons that I even considered voting for brexit, it would have allowed us to improve our welfare rules - but of course it did no such thing

Yes.

This anti-Muslim smear is repeatedly circulated by people with particular intentions.

Even on a DIY forum, they cone back time and again, even though they've been shown it isn't true.

What sort of person would do that?

This will probably come as a terrible shock to you, but in this world, there are some people who are racists, fascists, and xenophobes.

In this country, their favourite target ninety years ago was Jewish people.

Fifty years ago it was black people.

Forty years ago it was Asian people.

This is no longer considered socially acceptable in polite circles.

Today their favourite target is Moslem people.

You will be surprised to learn that some of them like to put anti-moslem threads on this forum from time to time, including some thinly disguised as animal welfare threads, complaining about Halal meat.

Can you imagine such a thing?

ban Halal slaughter

Is what you said.

Your slimy attempt to pretend you were not trying to attack Islam

I did not use the word Muslim !

Convinces no-one.

In your original post you did not mention Jewish ritual slaughter.

You already know that the meat sold in supermarkets that is Halal, comes from ordinary slaughterhouses to normal standards. The only difference us that someone says a prayer, or plays a recording of one. You already know that his has no effect on the suffering of the animal or the quality of the meat.

290,000 Jews in the UK, 94 million animals slaughtered without being stunned every year.

As the old Jewish saying goes, a cow a day keeps the Doctor away.

I mentioned halal as that is the vast bulk of the religious slaughter (shnekta is just as cruel but accounts for a very small proportion)

and the unstunned halal gets mixed in with the non Halal - so even if you are fully opposed to this cruel slaughter method, you may be unwittingly eating it

Thank god for that. I thought that was the case. I don’t mind the meat being blessed if that is there thing so long as the animal is humanely killed.
