Just passed my L3 trying to get some tools under my belt.

Would these drills be decent enough for most of the electricalwork i do. Whi h will be mainly domestic ? Or a waste of time.. the price looks decent for the set

I like the dewalt stuff but I am sure you will find better deals in screwfix or toolstation. One thing though is that I am not a sparky just DIY but I hardy use me impact driver but find a second drill driver much more useful for either going up in size drilling masonry or pilot then screw without constantly changing bits .

Take no notice of that guy on the other forum who says you don't need that impact driver.

No, you don't need an impact function, but you do need a short drill.

Theres another forum?

I use Parkside (Lidi) because I also use batteries for garden tools, but at work not permitted to use any of my own tools, the firm's insurance requires the firm have control of tool quality, so not permitted to use any of my tools at work. I do use them, as there are never enough, available when wanted, but I have to hide their use.

Basically if you need to provide tools, time you moved to a non micky mouse firm.

I'm torn fellas as to what to buy. If someone can post me a link to a reasonable priced set I'd be absolutely grateful. And yeah I will need a multitool at some point. But I'll get the drills first and then in a few months when I got some spare cash I'll get a multi tool iA

I used Dewalt for years you cant really go wrong with it.

Changed to milwaukee now.

That's very probably true.

However, in the very distant past, for very many years I nearly always bought expensive tools (and many other things), in the belief that they were 'better' (maybe they were, back then) - but when I eventually questioned that approach and 'swung that pendulum', then buying only 'cheopos', I can't say that I saw any appreciable deterioration in my experiences. The cheopo tools usually worked fine, and some are still going strong decades later - and, even if the much-more-expensive ones would have lasted several times longer, I still would probably have ended up financially better off :-)

A lot of the cost is the batteries, some of the cheaper sets look good price but look close and they have smaller batteries
Also don't discount b and q, its easy to get a trade card in your employers name and when they have a tradeday buy from Trade point and get 20 percent off, the store usually knows when there on in advance
40 quid off a 200 pound sets usually better than screwfix if you can wait

I initially bought cheap, just because tools were then so very expensive, and I needed a large range. Later, I replaced the rubbish, with much better, more expensive. Now, the cheap stuff, is proving much better quality, and I tend to buy those - often just in case I might need them.
