Will be having panels installed in the near future & would like to know best way to stop birds getting under the panels.

Still waiting for the installers to get back to me on it.

Had a quick Google & seen galvanised mesh fitted all the way round. Is that the best way, if no what is?

If yes, is plastic coated better than normal mesh. How do i make sure i buy the right one that will last years. Many thanks

Proprietary skirts?

Solaskirts are the best, but very expensive. Mesh still better than these plastic birdblocker. I had these and after 18 month it came loose at three locations. Invested in Solaskirts now and so far all good.

i think someone is trying to sell a solution to a problem that is either very rare or non existent,

fit your panels as per normal, and worry about it on the highly unlikely chance it happens - nesting would not be successful anyway, the young would get cooked alive

No one is selling anything to me, but not far from us there is a property that has pigeons on it every time we walk past. I'm assuming they are/have been nesting their & i don't want them on my roof continuously, so looking for ideas.

i spoke to our installer about this when ours where fitted, he said he was unaware of it happening anywhere he had fitted them, and we have never had any on ours.

we don't have a problem with feral pigeons (ex racing pigeons) in our area though - certainly regular normal birds don't seem to bother with them

When we used to have birds (sparrows and starlings) nest behind our roof tiles before we fitted those plastic spikey bird blockers, they would only nest at the rear of the house and not the front as the front was in full sun for most of the day. Birds don’t like nesting in full sun so do birds actually nest behind the solar panels?
