Voluntary Redundancy

No the only policy that is in force is we have two men for motorway work and two men above 10 metres. Any road that is 70mph limit can also be a 2 man dependant upon location. It isnt necessary for two men or cost effective unless you are doing bulk changes then that is for speed. I myself and another experienced operator can easily do 30 to 35 changes a day where on your own you can half this.
someone has to do all the booking, selling, invoicing, etc.

what I don't get with the man and picker set up is they seem to want £350 half a day, but surely different jobs are priced differently... Say I want my gutters cleaned vs solar panels installed or roof repaired?

It doesn't make a lot of sense. Or is the operator + cherry picker provided literally to operate the machine and you do the work yourself in the basket?

I think the prices you quoted are to hire a picker and a man/operator to get you up to the height for you to do the work yourself. the price to do the job would be on top of that figure,

As an example, if you wanted your gutters cleared on a high building above ladder height then you would be faced with the expense of having to have scaffolding errected before any work could be undertaken, then still have the expense of getting the work done, a cherry picker makes more sense and would be cheaper and quicker

I know nothing about pickers, but the potential to make more money seems to be if you go for a trailer towed machine and then you can tow it.
Actually that makes perfect sense for ease of access long tight footpaths and areas a van cannot drive in..

£45,000 for both him and his wife. That is not great. My fag packet was about right.

Its liveavble as I have money already, house paid off in an elite area, Lena has her own business, my money is really pocket money for holidays in a suite etc.

I had imagined that Lena was a kept woman!

Having a house paid off makes everything easier.

Well it is like winning the lottery for her each day being married to me , I am sure she would agree but I have never asked her so I just assume. She earns more than I do at the moment

Also he had an established "working at height" business already and he obviously didn't make great investments in kit vs renting. His is a going concern and yours isn't - I don't think this is a good move.
