Reform Policies

Maybe the plan is to lock up different people rather than more people.

Different to whom?

different to the ones currently locked up

good grief, how did you conclude that?

odds collects 10 red marbles, he no longer wants red marbles, so he swaps them for different colour marbles. How many marbles has odds got?

You implied they'd lock up people who are 'different' (in an unspecified way) and imprison them alongside those already inside

When the death penalty was used in the 18th and 19th century, crime increased.
So what would be the purpose of restoring capital punishment?
Any supposed savings on accommodating prisoners would be gobbled up in appeal costs and compensation claims
Do they want to resurrect 'the Bloody Code'?
Deporting them to Australia isn't the deterrent it used to be.:D

We are too soft on crime. Rather than increase prison places we should reintroduce capital punishment for all criminal offences. You get tried, you get convicted, you get hanged.

This will be popular with the public and solve the problem.

Probably a tadge OTT imo

Gain public resentment?
Bankrupt the country?
Psychopathic murderous dictatorship, third world shít hole style?

He hasn't thought it through. My guess is he doesn't live in the UK.

It's just typical MBK waffle.

Standard.
I know, right...

Says...

"In a speech on Tuesday, Tice (head of deform's proposed new Department of Business Trade and Energy) will vow to ditch the government's environmental targets and scrap new employment rights including protections around sick pay and unfair dismissal"

What was that about thanks for correcting you? ;)
An entirely different topic.

But the employment rights act needs scrapping it will cost 1000s of jobs.

Basildon health authority once took on someone to work in Mrs Motties hospital (Orsett) and on their first day they turned up at Basildon hospital. They asked her what she was doing there and she said that she couldn’t get to Orsett (in a small village with poor transport links). They told her the job was at Orsett but she said she'd already bought a monthly bus/train pass for her to get to Basildon. They told her they’d let her work there for that month only but after that she would have to go to Orsett. She went sick with stress on her last week at Basildon. They never saw her at Orsett. The NHS are full of clerical staff like that. It’s a disgrace.

'The Bloody Code' was considered to harsh, which lead to fewer convictions by juries.
So it was not only counter-productive, it increased the number of criminals set free, which would otherwise have been imprisoned.

There's no protection under employment law if you turn up for work at the wrong place.
On the proviso that the advert stated clearly where your place of work would be.
If it didn't state your place of work, it's reasonable to assume you would be working where you were interviewed.
She was lucky to get one months work.
The hospital where she should have worked could have dismissed her immediately.

Even if the hospital dismissed her, and didn't bother contesting any appeal, after one month working, she would have been entitled to a maximum one months sick pay, plus two months at half pay. Then she would have to return to work to qualify for anymore.

And she could be dismissed within her probationary period at any time.
If the hospital did not dismiss her after a short period of sickness, that was a failure by management.

A Reform government will remove leftist judges and fix the jury system to ensure this kind of woke response will not happen this time.

The will of the people will be done and Nigel will do it.
