Ideal Logic C30 8 years old. Hive connection.

Hi. No my issue isn’t solved and I didn’t get many replies to work with. A Google search did show that others have had issues with Hive and this boiler model.
I spoke with a plumber yesterday who said he has solved this issue on many of these boilers, I am now waiting for him to book in and visit me.
I will update as soon as this occurs.

I'm wondering if it's similar to a Vaillant whereby the existing control may have altered a setting and needs changing.
 
If you put the system back to what it was before hive does everything then work as it should? Is there a way to test if the hive is definitely switching when heat is called for?
 
Hi . Boiler works fine with its original wireless ideal thermostat, not with the hive. All possible wiring configurations have been tried. Nothing in the menu seems to be incorrect.
The hive solenoid switches as it should so assume voltage is present and correct.
I can check the voltage if someone has the info?.
 
Both the old setup and new hive are basically just simple switches so i can't understand it not working.
 
I can only read the manuals the same as everyone else, I note

The "Timerlink" when reading the installation instructions and I would guess there was a link removed when old unit was installed, and that link needs replacing.

I would guess the Hive should be connected using opentherm

I have never had an opentherm enabled boiler, and if I did I would use a installation engineer who knows what he is doing, I would not attempt DIY.

Open therm on this model is actually the most simple to setup, it is plug and play. The link makes no difference but i will study the diagram later. Thank you
 
Hi,
I'm not sure if you have the same problem that I had (or yours might be a wiring issue?) but I've spoken with Ideal Heating, they have confirmed the old receiver was interfering with the Hive controls. The receiver needs to be removed and replaced with a Timer Link Plug. This will allow the boiler to only listen to the Hive calling for a demand. For me, I've ordered the timer link plug and will get my engineer to fit this on.

For the time being I left the old Ideal thermostat switched on at full temp and constant on. Seems to be a valid work around for the Hive.
