Trumps attack on Iran - 2026 edition

How will the upcoming attack on Iran go.

Disenfranchising the poor and minorities sounds like a terrible thing to do.

Disenfranchising people who cannot prove they are US citizens sounds much better, and it would bring the US voter rules in line with most of the rest of the world.

Can non UK citizens vote in UK elections?

Voter fraud in the USA is incredibly rare. The states which have investigated it properly have found it is about three people in a hundred thousand..

Weren't you the one who brought it up as an area of concern. (poor and minorities)?

Yes, funnily enough.

But Trump is dealing with an invented non-issue. All the states who have investigated properly have found vanishingly small numbers of non-citizens registered to vote (about 0.001%) and even fewer incidents of actual voter fraud (about 0.0003%). Why would illegal aliens even try to vote when their primary aim is to stay under the radar. It's all a right wing fantasy.

I don't get your point.

Trump is trying to pass an act which will make it harder for about twenty million poor and ethnic minority citizens to vote. Using an invented myth about there being widespread voter fraud.

Are we talking about the same bill, the one that requires proof of US citizenship?

Yes. That is just one of the measures in the Bill.

You already have to effectively prove citizenship when you register to vote. There are stringent multi layered checks in place and database matching takes place across several government systems. Anyone who is at all suspicions is flagged for further investigation. Which is one of the reasons why the number of non-citizens on the electoral roll has been found to be about 0.001%. Is that the sort of figure which worries you.

That figure doesn't worry me at all, but how do you work out that by having to prove you're a US citizen, 20 million people will be disenfranchised.

Because studies show that more than twenty million US citizens will have trouble either getting hold of one of the two documents which would be necessary to prove citizenship or getting hold of one of the documents which counts as valid photo ID under Trump's proposed law.

Trump knows exactly what he is doing. There is an almost zero amount of voter fraud in the USA. He just wants to make it harder for poor people and ethnic minorities to vote. If you believe he has any other motivation, then I have a bridge to sell you.

Oh I see, 20 million people have lost their documents. Fair enough.

Let's move on shall we.

It's far easier for a Republican to be voted in than a Dem. With aggressive re-districting in Republican states, non-existent voter fraud measures, aggressive partisan ICE patrols/poll watchers and the latest ID nonsense. All because of a non-existent problem and the Orange rapists' claims of a stolen election.

It's about deciding what result you want, and how to go about getting it.

You either win over voters, or discourage (or even ban) those you can't.

If you can post up a verifiable and neutral source that shows voter fraud has a material effect on US elections, please do so.

Because for what it is worth, I've only seen sources that dismiss it as negligible.

After many re-counts, countless investigations, court cases overseen by partisan Trump appointed judges - none (zero, nil, nada. zip, nought) have shown that the election was stolen. In fact re-counts often showed Dem's were short changed.

Trump - beaten by a dribbling, old man. And it boils his pi$$. Not nearly as much as popular, intelligent and well liked President Obama does though.

Trump is trying very hard to suppress the vote. He is threatening to veto any new legislation until Congress passes a law which will disenfranchise millions of poor and minority US citizens.
And will turn the conservative Latina vote against him
