Fareed writes as if the Trump administration has an actual "strategy". It doesn't. Trump governs by reactionary instincts and prioritizes short-term power and money grabs. Like all bullies, Trump terrorizes the weak and backs away from strong opponents. That's why his preferred enemies are immigrants, transgender people, Venezuela, Cuba, small European democracies and an already weakened Iran. Don't expect Trump to stand up to China or Russia.

Despite decades of discussion about energy transitions, global production and trade remain heavily dependent on oil and gas.

Dependency on oil and gas isn't the problem... the problem is that the most evil people in the world are sitting on a lot of it.

The bigger picture.

You think you have the biggest picture, well I've got a bigger one! Nobody cares about this war, or about its innocent victims ... it's all about hatred of Trump!

But Trump didn't cause this.Trump didn't give away all the factories to China; Trump didn't flood the west with third-world scum and give them all public money. Trump didn't allow the rise of the evil regimes in China and the Middle East who we'd successfully kept down for centuries.

I don't hate Trump per se. But I do despise many of his policies. Mainly for the chaos he sows. Whether he is tearing up the international trade order for no good reason, trying to overturn the election, flip flopping constantly on the Chagos Islands, supporting Putin instead of the Ukraine, trying to take over Greenland, or turning the USA into a right wing autocracy which we can no longer rely on as an ally.

It most certainly is. I don't think this war could have played out any better for Vlad, all thanks to Trump. The irony is, Putin is helping Iran kill US soldiers.

Trump puts a greater trust in Putin than his own people.
