I wouldn't go as far as to say Trump's chickening out, at least without knowing the details of the deal. There's nothing to stop Israel carrying on, but they won't. For the last week or more Israel has had pilots flying up to 3 sorties a day, with a 5 hour duration on each, simply to get as many strikes in as possible before the inevitable trump announcement.

I think part of it was psychological. Instead of having a proper comprehensive military, the US wanted it to be organised so that we became sort of an off shoot of the US military. This in turn can lessen national pride in the military and make it harder to justify defence spending to the public.
 
Has Trump gone mental, He is in talks with top officials in Iran? No dialog according to the Iranians, Trump: They want to make a deal?

Hesgeth staying strong (God is now on his side) but no sign of Vance, presumably keeping his hands clean for the next election. Not sure about the other mad mullers.
