Mysterious that they "lost" all the Apollo telemetry from such an historic event.

No, back in the day-ish. They were sort of telemetry recording tape for another project so they reused tapes from old ones.

It's that mundane - I guess they didn't foresee the internet, and its population of swivel-eyed loonies saying it was faked.
