Hi guys,

I wondered if you could help me. I'm attempting to connect a couple of 16mm multilayer pipes (hot and cold) to existing copper pipework. I'm in France, so unfortunately the 16mm multilayer has to attach to what I think is 14mm copper (difficult to measure diameter when it isn't cut open). If you see the photo below, I've attached a tee to the proposed hot pipe so far which can face downwards towards the copper pipe. The hot copper is the top of the two horizontals. There isn't easily available tees that run 14-16-14 for copper, so am I going to have to get a 14-14-14 for copper, then a tiny run of copper pipe before getting an adapter that changes copper 14 to multilayer 16, before attaching to the tee? My worry is that it is a pretty small space at around 10 cm...

Thanks very much.

Fred

https://forum.completefrance.com/topic/9843-copper-pipe-sizes/ suggests in France copper pipe is specified as external diameter / internal diameter with 16/14 mm being one common size...

Ask Dick Strawbridge or another ex-Pat (via such forums) who will have come across the same issue?

I have an adjustable spanner with mm markings I use measure things like that pipe. Look for something similar to actually measure the pipe diameter (bearing in mind the French seem to use internal diameter more than external)?

One thread talked about flaring the copper pipe to make connections (eek!).
