Car drivers : numberplate, subject to all road traffic penalties, driving licence subject to points, disqualification, monitored by 10s of thousands of cameras with ANPR etc
Cyclists : not so much.

I'm new to road biking. I never dreamt I could get so much pleasure out of holding car drivers up. Mind, in Wales I'm usually out pacing them. Ho hum.

Roads in the UK are unsuitable for cyclists, there is no space for them as well as cars. Cyclists should be banned. They kill quite a few in London, about 10 per year in recent times

Cars make cities worse, not just endangering people, but make them more unpleasant places to be. They generate noise, dust, and take up far more space per person than any other personal transport.

The current state of UK roads mean that few people dare to ride bikes in urban areas, meaning we get more cars, which means more health issues, and more negative outcomes. But we take these things for granted, because we have internalised the issue. Some other cities have seen the issues, and built proper bikes lanes, limited car access, and seen the benefits, resulting in quieter, safer cities.

Cyclists are not the bane of the highways. Cars are the bane of the highways.

Nope, it's what I see every day...really bad cyclists....

Just this morning on the way to work, I nearly got wiped out by a car cutting the corner on a junction, as they turned right into the road I was on. But such things don't get reported or even register in people's heads as breaking the highway code. Neither does the speeding that about half of drivers admit to.
