Is it murder or man slaughter

body cam footage shows the copper reading rights to a dying young man who is unconscious. While the murderer complains of a swollen eye.

I find it strange the usual suspects are not on here in agreement about how this ever came to happen, a very sad day, the dad was extremely well composed making his statement, quite incredible.
I really hope they do the right thing and make real tangible changes to ensure this discrimination no longer occurs, where is our spineless PM?
This includes the immediate ban of 'ceremonial' weapons, im sure some of you have seen on SM these young lads parading them in parks etc showing them proudly as part of their culture...
Such a shame what we have become as a nation. Its ok to speak up rationally it's not racist to point out.

According to the BBC, he was carrying two knives, one shorter "allowed" one and one 8 inch knife.

Having read the sentencing remarks, I'm not convinced the Police acted negligently. It would appear the wounds were bleeding internally and that there was not obvious signs of someone dying from stab wounds. However, they did need to take his claims more seriously and ignoring someone going unconscious who has blood on them, needs to be a lesson to learn

I was very pleased to see the clear and unambiguous statement from the local Sikh Gurdwara

"Digwa’s actions were in direct contradiction to Sikh teachings and values that have guided Sikh communities for more than five centuries, including in Britain for over 150 years."

“Throughout this difficult period, we have been struck by the dignity and moral strength shown by Henry’s family, through all of the online noise from third parties. As they said in their statement, there is no closure and no ending to their pain, yet even at such a moment, they highlighted Henry’s death should not be seized upon to cause division"

Agree.
Having now seen the video, possibly the officers though it was just another case of "I don't feel well, I've been stabbed" to get away.
In any case, the female officer administered first aid almost immediately.
What I don't understand is why they didn't assess his wellbeing immediately: that's something officers do as standard procedure.

I understand the religious reasons for carrying a knife, but this is in contrast with UK legislation and shouldn't be allowed unless going to a ceremony.
Again, one could make up a religion today and claim that they need to carry a loaded firearm for religious reasons.

This is good to see, i have a high regard for the Sikh community.

I am of a similar line of thought. It was dark, there was no easily visible blood, there was a witness telling the police that he hadn't been stabbed, and a number of Digwa's family telling the police blatant lies about what had happened. The police had to work out what was going on and that was taking time.

Terrible situation and my heart goes out to Henry Novak and his family.

But it is a valid question. Did the police take longer to work out what was going on because of the racism accusation? Would the police have reacted in the same was if the racism card hadn't been played and everyone involved was the same race?

point 16 does make it clear that the wound was fatal and that no emergency CPR would have helped. The cut vein was deep in his chest and the 1.2l of blood he lost mostly went into his chest cavity.

Whilst appreciating the police have to make judgements in a very short space of time and in what can be very difficult circumstances, I wonder how the policeman is feeling who said 'don't think so mate' when Henry said he'd been stabbed.

I'll say again as I've said before, the authorities should treat everyone the same.

As for the knife carrying thing for religious reasons. This needs to be scrapped.

I do have to laugh at the likes of Musk spouting his guff. Maybe look closer to home first re how the police in the States conduct themselves.

I fully appreciate that the policemen and women's actions had no bearing on the death of poor Henry Novak. That responsibility lies solely at the hand of Digwa.
