Soil Pipe Branch (Current Setup Seems Botched and Old)

Hi everyone,

I’m currently planning out a bathroom refurbishment with a tight layout.

I want to tidy up the pipes in the bathroom. I need a solution for the toilet, basin and bath waste.

I expect that fitting a new branch in the soil pipe is necessary, as the current setup seems poorly done and must be CIRCA 50 years old.

As you can see there is little space around the soil pipe boxing in.

I'm currently lost, guessing at the best approach. I hope someone with experience can tell me what approach I should take and what products I need to look at buying?

You may struggle to get to the bath waste. However, might be ok if you remove the section where the branch and basin are. Could always get a basin connection on a wc boss.

Thanks, that's a good idea, but it does still leave an awkward bath waste issue.

At the moment I am considering dropping the wastepipes through the floor, running it into the kitchen below and boxing it in, although I'd rather not if I can help it.

I would suggest that you open that up more and clear the boxing in all around it, that will give a better view of what space is available, how accessible it would be to try and break the stack at that branch for additional modifications and what else may fit in there, e.g. a double boss.

It doesn't seem to be leaking.

Bath waste is almost level, not enough drop; I guess this could be sorted by a better low P-trap.

Basin waste is high on the wall, and we would prefer to have it much lower so final boxing in can be neatened up.

You are looking at a lot of work for not a lot of gain. You could perhaps get the basin into the waste for the WC and leave the rest alone.

The age of it is ok if it isn't leaking
