ID cards, are you scared?

Necromancy is raising dead threads back to life.

Necrophilia is when you feel the uncontrollable urge to f**k around with them anyway. Let it go Mottie.

This came up as a ‘new’ post so I’m assuming it was a spammer who has since been banned and had their post deleted but looking at ellals posts, WTF was he flapping about? “In a few years”. It’s been 20 years since he made that post.

Yes, because it got killed off, but for a while it existed, 15,000 people had one, and their details were placed on the National Identity Register. The fact that it was later cancelled doesn't mean that at the time ellal's concerns were not justified, or that he was "flapping about".

Ot alternatively you went back 20 years to find yet another opportunity to vent your vindictiveness on ellal.
Talking about going back 20 years (maybe a bit more), we were all more than happy to give our name, address and phone number for anyone to find us. It was called, 'The Phone Book!'

"Ah, you say, but we could be ex directory!"

And you can leave the ID card in the drawer too...

As far as I can remember you always have done and still do give ID to take out a library book, drop some rubbish off at the recycling centre, pick up mail from the sorting office and people are happy to do so.

I’ve had to give biometric data to open some online accounts and I’ve had to give my national insurance number to open several ISA's. I have no problem with that - it’s for my protection.

I’ve also had to recently give ID to get an estate agent to market a property form me as well as engage a solicitor to carry out the conveyancing on it. If any of the above processes weren’t in place, can you imagine the fraud that would be taking place? 'Someone' would have something to say about that if they were defrauded by lack of some kind of identification process then, wouldn’t they?

Even 30 years ago we were (well some of us} were experiencing the weird (abusive) phone calls, so we took steps to reduce them .Whether it was ex-directory, de-listing, direct action, or learning how to respond to such abuse, ICT abuse had started.

Which is why we need to feel confident about disclosing our personal information.
Others have talked about the tax 'givers' to support the benefit 'takers' but it applies in all spheres.
The risky elderly person that is easily conned out of their savings.... someone has to pay for that, the rest of the savers.

I suspected my post might draw the latest tag team out. I wasn’t wrong.
So you're a self confessed troll...

Added to your self confessed racism and self confessed misogyny it's not looking exactly great for you is it old man...

But I guess you're simply a victim of a bygone era ;)
