We are going away this Saturday to Whitby for the week, we told the rescue manager this and we are going to seek out a suitable hound when we return, the manager said she will look at some potential hounds and bring them for a home visit next week when we return home.

Just been on with the rescue and we have arranged a meeting on Wed 5th August at my house, she is bringing 4 potential dogs that she thinks will be ideal. OMG I didnt want to choose just 1 of them, but I suppose we could go on the colour of them more than there needs as I am sure each one of them needs a home. I would like a tiger skinned one but I am more interested in re-homing any of them.

They asked if we would home an older dog, I said we would but the worry is that I would hate to lose it after just a couple of years, I would prefer a younger dog to have for a longer period, they are all around 4 or 5 years old when they stop racing but there are some that are 9 and 10 yrs old that are in the rescue center because their owners have died etc.

it is so sad that some poor dog has lost its human at 9 or 10 years old. But you have to consider your own needs. This is coming from someone who lost a dog under 2 years. You want to remember them for the long happy life they had with you.

Here in Whitby this week, some great greyhound pet shops to explore including a dog bakery that makes healthy snacks and treats just for dogs.

We try, but he hates it. Occasionally we get one when he is asleep. A pebble/sandy beach also works. Sighthounds don't like their feet being touched.

I like all animals. I favour the greyhound as it is the most difficult dog to rehome. When I decided to adopt a dog, my criteria would be to rehome a dog that needs a home and give it a chance of a life that it deserves. A greyhound is pretty much a sad story as its life is bred for racing, once it doesnt do well racing they are tossed aside and neglected and never shown any love. My greyhound will receive the very best of everything including lots of love.

Just call it "Hound of Love" like the song by that witchy woman, Kate Shrub.
