Thats pretty solid advice for females, but Vet opinions are changing on Males.

I wonder if that is because if the females are spayed then the males cannot produce puppys?

I have just sent a text to the greyhound centre to see how the racers that came to my house to meet Lena and I on how they are doing as I am concerned that they have not been adopted and I am feeling guilty that I have adopted a hound that I havent even seen. They text me back to say two of the 6 that came to meet us have found forever homes. I am so pleased for them, I was worried. I didn't want a choice because of this very reason, the rescue centre told me not to feel guilty as the one I have been allocated is very special and they know that we will be perfect for her and take care of her. They said this hound was only going to be available to the very best home. I thought that was a very nice text to receive and thoughtful.

Just received another text telling us that our greyhound is excited to meet us at our house. Friday between 1 and 3pm. I just cannot wait. This will be the best grehound in the world.

No it’s for health reasons.

With males you are tossing up prostate issues vs osteoporosis. They appear to need the testosterone their plums make.

My childhood dog was undoctored. He wanted to either shag or kill every other dog, depending on gender. He should have been done, but that wasn't the norm back then.

I told a neighbour when I was about 6 that her dog was giving ours piggy backs on our front lawn. I thought it was nice that they were playing games together, couldn't understand why she looked so shocked.

Lena is very excited at our new arrival, she is making plans to take it for a run with her during winter when I can't run with her. Matching outfits too. I am thrilled that she is now as enthusiastic as me.
