Hi all.

Firstly would like to introduce myself, I’m Matt 34 from Hertfordshire.

New member here, I’m not a builder nor do I have a trade.

I am trying to put myself out there and haven’t got a clue where to start.

After a loss of someone close to me, I was struggling in every aspect of life, had to speak up and talk to someone and get the professional help I urgently needed.

This meant giving up work for 6 months, I feel a million times better than I was previously.

I can no longer sit behind a desk and looking for something totally new.

Just wondered if anybody would have any opportunities, I understand I have no knowledge if willing to learn.

I drive, I’m reliable, punctual and willing to graft. Willing to travel absolutely anywhere. Would like to get back into the groove of things and start fresh.

Sorry for the long story but just want to be straight with everybody.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

Cheers all.

Matt

Good luck Matt, I hope you find something but you would be better putting this in the trades section tbh. Most on the GD are retired or are just sole traders. So you would probably have better luck in the trades section.

Hi mate.

Thanks for the reply.

Didn’t have a clue where to start so thought if I put it in the general discussion somebody might point me in the right direction which they have so much appreciated

Your attitude is commendable and you are obviously a decent bloke. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you and wish you well.

Thanks for the compliment, manners cost nothing, just trying to put myself out there again. Got my fingers crossed as well.

Thanks again

Hello Matt

Posting on GD isn't a bad thing. Loosing someone is something we have all experienced.
Mental health is a major thing these days. It affects most of us.

Theres some great trades on here thst will give good advice.
One very good builder I know of. Car mechanics and all that sail in her.

Ai will take most jobs innthe future. Plumbing for example would be one of the last trades it takes over. The problem would still be everyone thinks they can do a bit of Plumbing, and there will be an abundance of low skilled plumbers.

If I where to have my time again, I train to be a carpenter/joiner.

You can be so creative and irs Something Ai wont touch for years and years.

Stay around and enjoy the fun.

Thanks for the reply.

I do agree that AI will end up taking over most things but if I’m honest I don’t think it will be able to take over manual skilled labour. But then again only time will tell.

Thanks again
