They have to stay on sight hounds. It’s a soft tag collar. Her main collar is only worn when walking her on a lead but it is part of the sight hound regs. It is in case they get out, mine would eat everyone in the village. I have put @pete01 details on the tag just in case.

The greyhound I know is utterly terrified of fireworks. I don't know whether this is general or just this one. You just need a distant pop and she'll shake like a leaf for half an hour and need loads of comforting. Probably PTSD from the starting gun or maybe from seeing other failed dogs getting shot.

Just be aware later in the year.
 
Some of the dogs we had in the past didn't mind fireworks.
Others were absolutely terrified by them.
Maybe just personality.
 
You could once get a CD containing the sound of fireworks, starting quiet and gradually getting louder. They eventually get bored of it.

But our cats used to hate them as their directional hearing is so good. She'd sit in the lounge and follow them through the air with her head above the ceiling, exactly as if she could see them. So I don't think it was the noise, but the movement.

pretty good idea, I will try that as my greyhound is nervous as hell.
 
She's still new.

She's been through a lot, she'll have moved several times so is probably waiting for a van to turn up and take her away somewhere else. After a few weeks she'll decide it's probably her home so can relax.
