Two fakro windows side by side flashing

Have finished a roof on my garage recently and was to install old veluxs but did change my mind and was to go back on it again next year or two when have more funds. Have the double joists already in place for 2x 780mm wide to sit beside each on two sections of the roof.

Have just noticed someone selling fakro 1600x780mms for a decent price with tile fkashing. Can pick these up fir 300e each with flashing. Retail price over 700e plus have to purchase the flashing kits seperate where as the flashing os coming included in the 300e ones i can get. Its a no brainer.

My question is, if i install the windows side by side and using the singke flashing kits, would there be much adjusting to make them fit. In my mind, surely with a bit of creativity, one could make these watertight in the center. Even if ive to get a small flashing trim made up locally. Has anyone ever tried this? Just thinking of trying to save a few quid if its not to much messing about rather than having to buy the combi flashing for them.

Yes, the flashing kit heads and side (middle bit) won't work. You need a dedicated flashing kit. Probably cost you more than the windows. If it were me, I'd locate the windows so that they were wholly seperate from each other, ie a modest amount of tiling inbetween.

Can they be slightly altered thou. Surely one could come come up with something with making some sort of flashing for it.

I had in mind about spacing them more but the distance between the two double rafters is 1680. Both windows with a 120mm gap between the two. I dont think that would be enough. With that said thou, at a guess, what do you think the min measurement i could get away with. I still have some 6x2s and 9x2s left over. Maybe i could add them.on the other side of the doubles and remove the 2 inner rafters where the windows will go. I could possibly have another 80mm to play with.

Not really, if you keep them apart just enough to them near touching or maybe even trim them and get a new small piece of flashing to go under them where theyve been trimmed. Ct1 or some sort of fixing to secure.

The sides can easily be modifed and a new u channel made up for it thatll slide up the middle and under the side cover flashing. Even Ct1 or similar in places and i cant see it going anywhere.

I know its going against how its supposed to be but surely with a bit of creativity im sure it can be done.

Theres a place near me that can make the flashing. Ive had bespoke flashing made up of pvc coated steel before for sheds. Surely they can make something with thiner flashing for this.

Anyother time id have bought the combi but finances are tight at the moment with building this large garage so will have a crack at it. Worst case ill use lots of silicone, and duct tape to get me by untill a year or two till i change it. Clint eastwood style haha.

Not just the header or middle bit. They need to be kept far enough apart so that the flared out bottom flashings don't clash either. You might as well have them far enough apart to tile them in that case.

Either buy a dedicated paired flashing kit or seperate the windows.
