back boiler tripping out electrics

rite well i've taken the pump off and replaced it with a new one.

fired the system up and it ran for 10 mins nearly then popped again.

as for the water yep it wasn't cleaned properly but thats my fault as i'm the one who put the x400 in and left it i never flushed the system properly again.

Though now its drained so i could fit the pump as the stop valves on the old pump were seized on.

any ideas peeps?

checked the wires to the boiler i can't see anything obvious thats wrong no smell of burnt wires no scarring on the plastic sleeves....

I think you need a qualified person to take off the fire and look closer into the back boiler, chances are its the cable burnt or overheated near the back boiler somewhere and tripping the electrics-seen it a few times.

afraid thats not the case here all the wires are in perfect order.

Are you sure because sometimes there are cables that are hard to inspect unless you have the firefront off. Could be wires in the back boiler connecting plug melting or--mice nibbling away at part of the wire.

Has the system filled up completely and fully?

What is clicking on or off after this 10 mins. Try to find out exactly and post back.

yes the system is full apart from a little air in a 2 rads upstairs which can't be bled coz the bleed vents r totally rounded off and knackered. The system has always been like that and this has not effected it before.

as for what clicks on and off etc the back boiler fires runs as normal for 10 mins then the RCB on the board goes and were plunged into blackness.

what about running the system for 10 minutes without the boiler firing?

If it trip's out still you know it's not heat related but i can't see how anything else would cause it to as you have a new pump.

Failing that it's a process of elimination, try removing the cylinder stat from it's position on the tank, or turning the stat right down on the boiler, or room stat, maybe if you have a 3 port valve flick it to manually open position etc

Interested to know the outcome

how can i run the system without the boiler firing up?

there is no 3 port valve or cylinder stat or room stat on this system. All there is is a back boiler with an external timer control, cylinder and the header tanks in the attic thats it.

i've spoken to a gas installer and he reckons its an electrical fault and i need to call a sparky out.

By turning boiler stat off. Then you will be isolating boiler stat and gas valve and any wiring in between.. And checking wiring from fused spur through clock through room stat to pump also from fused spur to boiler stat input. It narrows down what may be causing your problem

there is no room stat on this system.

there is back boiler which is wired to an external timer control which is broken the timer section does not work - just a typical mechanical clock interface.

it's a randall 30 20P

this in turn is wired to pump and thats it. there is no room stat nor 3 port valve.
