Wall thermostat - on/off!

Hi, I have a very old wall thermostat which basically seems more like an on/off switch than a thermostat.

Basically the house has to be very cold before the heating comes on but if you adjust the stat up to take this into account the house has to be tropical before it goes off.

The thermostat is an ITT McLaren - numbers from inside the casing which may or may not be model numbers are RT366 S006 1373.

There's also a 20(4)A before it tells you it's for 250V AC.

Any thoughts?

Yes, it's broken. Three seconds on eBay tells you that it can be replaced for less than a tenner.

A search for "ITT McLaren" gave no results

Certainley sounds as if it has had it.

Visit your nearest plumbers merchants and buy a basic room stat from them. Probably only around £15.

Should be a simple job to fit it.

It's known as a room thermostat. Try searching for "room thermostat -(programmable,rf)" - you'll get loads.
