Evening all,

quick q - im having my bathroom replaced this coming tuesday, the bits have all been delivered and look nice and shiney. the only problem is the previous owner decided to paint all the wastes to the WC and WHB and so i would like these replaced at the sametime, the only problem being im not sure what bits i need to ask them to bring to fit aswell as the actual bathroom? does that make sense? a list of new bits and pipework would be appreciated..

thanks

Andy.

erm...........waste pipe , fittings and solvent should do.?

how do we know what you want ?
don't know what bath suite you have.
can't see the job.
they should know more as they have been to price the job.

so helpful :x

ive got a bath, whb, and close coupled wc sat in my kitchen aswell as over bath thermostatic shower. what i was trying to ask was what are the names of the pipework behind the wc and whb? i dont want to ring him tomorrow and say "i also need the pipes behing the whb and wc replaced" i was gona say cold feed and wastes to whb and wc also need doing.

Well, Mr Fix it, I'm not a plumber but when you said the wastes had been painted, I knew what you meant (large diameter plastic pipe behind lavatory and also plastic waste behind washbasin, right?) so unless your plumber is trying not to understand, he'll probably get it. If not, show him when he arrives. Once he's disconnected the old suite, he'll probably have to pop out to get some bit or piece anyway and he can fetch what you want then.

as anyone will say we can't see the job.
i could tell you you need a pan connector. now without seeing the layout there are about 15 different types.

you need a basin trap. what ones going to fit your layout best. a bottle trap, a straight through, a tubular swival. now there is about 20 different traps.

so how can we guess will out any info, pics ?
so what you have a toilet pan.
you don't say if it's high level, low level, close couple, p trap, s trap.

yep, think i may even ask him to pop by tomorrow evening to double check what else is needed. i forgot to mention that he has not looked at the job, i just got the bits and asked him to do it. just dont want anything going wrong and for it to be all done by the end of the week :?

i wrote down:

-replace all wastes (bath, whb and pan connector to WC)
-replace cold feeds to same.

everything else is on site and ive ripped out what i can including tiles, bath panel, skirting board and cheapo laminate flooring.

what you on about, we all know he means the wc waste pipe but their is about 15 different types.

you don't give any info don't expect us to guess

easy tiger

looks like i'll be getting round tomorrow and then send him to the plumb centre first thing tuesday.

If I were plumbing it I'd want you out of the way, and you wouldn't be SENDing me anywhere.

they come on here what an answer, don't like the answer they are given,
then expect cause your a plumber you should be able to guess their problem or parts they need.

public need to wake up abit. and live in the real world.
we don't jump when public say jump and carry a crystal ball.

i certainly wont be around when its done. i'll leave him to it and any probs give me a shout.

i didnt mean to offend any of you so called plumbers in my topic.

if im paying him, then he'll put in and get what i ask him to get or i'll get someone else who wants the work or money  i wasnt expecting an exact answer just a rough idea. i appreciate there are many different parts in the bathroom, i just didnt want the new bathroom suite put in with all the old pipework in and around it.

don't worry long as you tell him what pipes you want moved or changed it should be ok.
but if h is any good he will know by looking what he needs and sometimes you can't always tell till say toilet is inplace.

does sound strange how he has taken a job on he hasn't seen so how did he give you a quote to do it ?

i work closely with a building company and i mentioned to a friend who works there about needing someone to fit and he said leave it to him, he'll send a plumber round to do it, just take out what you can?!

Yes, but what's important surely is that the plumber knows that the OP wants him to replace these fittings. Then he can organise the extra time needed to sort it out or maybe even ask the relevant questions you have posed here.
