I've cancelled my cable TV because it was costing £31 per month and I never watched from one month to the next. So my question is:

Are freeview boxes pretty much of a muchness, or are some better than others? I think I've seen them in Tesco - is that a good place to buy one?

I have 2 different types in my house, they are different but both ok.
1 does PIP the other dosnt, you may also need one with an RF loop through they dont all have that

I imagine when they take the cable box away on Friday that they'll somehow cap the incoming cable so I won't have a cable to connect to. At least that's what I've heard.

If you have a phone service with the cable company they will let you have the basic film package for free or a fiver a month.

You can then connect your new box to the feed and enjoy channels.

PM me if you need any advice.

Can you expand on that a bit?

What bit do you need expanding on.
I have 2 panasonic units about 4 years old.
The other unit cant remember the name but that is also 2 years old.
You cant go far wrong than picking 1 up from Argos/Tesco or similar, if it doesnt do what you want return it if you can. Not sure if you can return these items

I returned one to Tesco and got a refund no problem!

Argos used to have a no refund unless faulty policy on freeview boxes. Not sure if this is still the case.
