Hello all,

I've got a fairly old (10yrs +) Vaillant Combi, with no model number, that I can see.

Just had it serviced, and after the chap left, the boiler began to completely ignore the programmer. It came on and off whenver it liked, regardless of what the timer said.

Engineer came back today, and got it working fine. He also told me how to wire in a new programmer (the old one had a 9-pin backplate).

So I bought a Drayton LP711, and wired it in. Eveything appears to work fine, except the boiler wont heat my rads.

The programmer comes on, and switches the boiler on and off as necessary, so does the room thermostat on the stairs. However, because the house is now cold, and the thermostat is at 30deg (my impatience), I would expect the boiler to say "Whump" just as it does when you turn on a hot tap. It's not doing it, it's just sitting there making its usual noise (fan?)

Hot water works fine. When the engineer left today, the boiler was working fine, on an 80 second delay, but that was before I put in the new timeswitch.

Sorry for the long post. I'd appreciate any advice.

TIA

PJ

Sounds suspiciously like programmer is wired wrong (but perhaps not if old programmer was also playing up it could be something at the boiler end) what connections did he tell you to make from programmer to boiler?

???

wish my customers were as easily pleased.

Sounds suspiciously like the timer is not correctly installed, what exactly did you do?
