I have an interesting and manly collection of scars, some tend to catch on things.

there are some scar reduction gel pads available, which I have tried, i think they work, but are quite expensive (over £20 a pack) and they rub off against clothes. I have also heard of gels in a little tube that you smear on, which are even more expensive, but I hear may be obtained on NHS prescription.

Has anyone else tried any treatments?

always wondered as a kid, and i know it would work, i have a deepish wound, scar on my face. i could freeze then grind , then becomes a scrape? no?

Vitamin E is supposed to be good for scars and Evening Primrose Oil - just break open one of the capsules and apply.

You get that Bio Oil - it's supposed to be good as well.

Bio Oil and E45 cream were what were recommended to me after the surgery on my finger (the proper op - not my impromptu stanley knife episode). I also received ultrasound treatment which apparently helps break down the scar tissue.

Was this surgery for Dupuytrens Contracture (bent fingers)? I got the hand operation for this condition last Wednesday and my hand is in some state. Most of the stitches have burst open after I attempted the finger exercises recommended by the consultant yesterday. Local nurse says that it is too soon after the op to do any exercises as the stitches will not have taken hold yet. They certainly won't take hold now! But how do you say this to the surgeon who wants 5 patients including me, to be able to clench our fists by next Tuesday when the stitches are to be removed. Sorry for going on but was yours Dupuytrens?
