Hello you all.

A friend of mine has a problem with his booster pump, basically he can hear it running during the night when apparently no one is using any water. He said no visible leaks. Unfortunately i can not give you any more infos since i'll go and have a look tomorrow morning, i just wanted to know, apart from any leaks, what could cause that or what to look for. Are you aware if a faulty flow switch could cause that? Thank you in advance for your time.

Thanks to my clairvoyance and long distance X-ray vision, I can see the exact make, model, and position of the "booster" pump, but I'm gonna join in with you and keep it a secret from everyone else. :)

As i mentioned above i am sorry but i am not able to provide much info as it was an out of blue call. I just thought that regardless of the make some of you might have already experienced such a problem. I will have a proper look this morning and i will keep you posted.

You haven't even said whether it's a positive or negative head pump.

I don't doubt that you're genuine, but you have to understand that many site regulars are familiar with the "my friend..." flavour of topic, and that it generally becomes very frustrating because of your distance from the job and the possibility of wrongly described components and symptoms. Also, and I'm sure this isn't you, some people are just liars. It would be better if the friend was the one posting.

I sometimes have to go and sort out problems caused when "a friend" has dabbled and made something worse!

Often, I ask the owner if their friend is going to pay for my work sorting out the problem he has caused. They rarely are!

On the odd occasion when I met the friend they are very like Alf Garnet !
