No (sigh), I implied nothing about what I've seen or not seen. My question was aimed at making you realise that the incidence of cold storage cisterns freezing is a rare.
Moreover, the consequence of Legionella is far more serious than a frozen cistern, so the wise decision is to err on the side of keeping the loft cold.
So, are you going to answer the question?
Well Team, new tank fitted and i did use screwfix. Took more time to find my hole saws then it did to fit the new tank. That said, when i removed the old lagging and had a look at the old metal tank, well! Job done in the nick of time, as the first pin hole started to leak as i undid the first connection.
The tank must have been some 30yr old and it looked it.

Great result, well done; I hope you didn't remove the loft insulation from under the tank!
The lagging?...............Sorry i just had to after all the remarks about it.
The platform, well yes i did renew it with 18mm ply. The tank lives 4ft up on a platform. The old platform was 35yrs old and still not too bad but as i had an offcut of ply and the weather had changed from rain to almost sunshine, i cut a new one. Then i rewired the loft lighting and moved a low energy light so it gave more light above the new tank.
The wife thinks i`m a bit mad, but as we know, better to do it when you don`t have to, then to do it when its gone wrong.........less pressure etc.
Well, back to the garden as a cold one awaits.............
