We are going to replace the carpet in the living room / dining room, it will be the same carpet as the room is one room (sort of)
2 adults and 2 kids, but usually 2 adults 4 kids as their friends come to play. we currently have a patterned carpet which shows up all the muck :D we are thinking of buying a plain carpet.

any advice of what type of carpet will be the best, ie twist polypropolene.
is there a minimum thickness of carpet, remember it will have heavy traffic. we have no pets.

you say you have a patterened carpet that shows the muck, so your changing to a plain one? I think you must have that the wrong way around! A plain carpet will show every little mark, hence they put patterened carpet in pubs ect. Maybe you should think about a hard flooring, wood, laminate, karndean ect.
