Second oldest profession

By george I think i've got it, it has to be a tailor, everybody needs clothes and somebody somewhere would have come up with something trendy, like a brontosaurus jacket or a tyrannosaurus sweater!

A bloke that follows behind dinosaurs with a bucket and spade?

I read in a recent thread where somebody quoted bricklaying as being the second oldest profession.
I disagree, I think it would be carpentry wouldn't it?

Mans greatest invention and 2nd best profession is wheel maker, first would be hunter going out on a fox hunt yelling chitty Ohhh as they run buck naked in the wilderness of eden

And i suppose all brits say Tallyho and watcha me old cock sparrow?

IF s**t could fly Sylvan you,d be swiftly inducted into the R.A.F. and made a squadron leader!

Actually kind sir I'm more of a navy man rather then R.A.F how about HMS admiral

Although prostitution is generally considered to be the oldest profession, this can't be true. Here's why:

A profession needs customers; that is to say, there must be a demand. Now why, in a species that uses sex for pair bonding, would there ever have been a demand for prostitutes? :? :? :? Answer: Because we must have evolved from a species that didn't form pairs. What are the mating rules in such species? Answer: One dominant male grabs all the females for himself.   There are plenty of examples. Natural selection has seen to that.

But we humans are also greedy so prostitution would very likely have begun thus:    "OK you lot. These are all mine but I'll sell you one. Do you want her for the day or to keep? There's one over there you can have half price." In support of this theory I would point out that, in many parts of the world, women are still bought and sold today. :( :( :(

Next question: How did those proto-humans work out who was going to be leader? :?: :?: :?: Answer: That's irrelevant. The very existence of a leader tells us that the oldest profession must be politics. QED. :D :D :D

How can the oldest profession be politics? Do you think that everyone sat around the fire debating for a leader?

Or did someone just club the next guy and grunt words to the effect "Right, I am the boss"?

You would also find that Welsh cavemen got by without cavewomen, but the Raptors in the field were the only carnivores scared of man

I agree with anobium

i've concluded that from:- Mary magdalen she was a prostitute and Jesus was a Carpenter   so both date back over 2000 years any further back than that well keep guessing :?:

Adam and Eve were charged with looking after the garden of eden so gardening must be the oldest profession and selling the second, for eve sold her soul for a bite of an apple.

I have been giving this matter a great deal of thought betwixt watching the footie, having a pint or two, and during a round of golf and have come up with another serious contender for what could be the second oldest profession.
Bearing in mind that food was a necessity and in the absence of Tesco's and Asda, man had to hunt for food, doesn't it follow that man would have soon realised that he needed some kind of implement to cut up the Sunday joint.
Again in the absence of a J Lewis or Debenham's there was a desperate need for the first knife and fork.
I therefore conclude that toolmaking is the second oldest profession
