Good Evening all

Baxi Platinum 28 HE boiler, about 2 yr old , making an absolute racket when we run the hot water , it sounds like something is inside trying to get :? , when we stop running the hotwater the noise stops , we also notice the display shows the temp at nearly 100 degrees Cent , any ideas

possible blocked plate h/exch? is it outside warranty?

I have 5 yrs warranty on it with heateam as long as I have it serviced each yr , im pretty sure I am still within my last service so I will give them a call. Thanks

I agree.

You will be lucky if they change that under warranty. The fault (if it is that) would be caused by system debris/sludge.

If its blocked, as seems likely, then thats the installers fault.

You should call him back to change/clean the plate.

Im not sure if this is relevant but some of the radiators do warm up when we run the hot water despite only having the boiler set to water , the bathroom radiator gets very hot.

maybe a faulty or very dirty diverter valve and/or blocked plate

If the plate is badly blocked then the increased pump pressure across it will cause the diverter valve to leak a little into the heating circuit.

Your plate heat x is blocked on the primary side, remove it clean it stick your finger in the maniflolds to prove how dirty it is,replace it then do it all again in a couple of.............
Or complain to your installer and talk to him/her about the need to flush and inhibit systems.
Baxi warranty will not cover you for incorrect installation

The boiler was installed over 2yrs ago and serviced by the installer in nov 07 would it be the installers fault if the system has picked up sludge/debris in 2yrs , when the boiler was installed I remember the installer putting the liquid (forgot what the name is) through the system.

Baxi are coming out Friday , are they likely to look at it and advise they cant fix on there warranty and then quote me ?

Is this something I can safely poke my finger in  If I switch of the gas and isolate the electric then I suppose it seems to be , any chance of a pic of a heat exchange so I know what Im looking for ?

Would a flush of the system with the liquid resolve ?

Cheers for all your help

If you already got Baxi coming out then you might as well wait until he comes and having seen the problem can give you better advice then any of us. If its not covered as part of the warranty, but maybe he has one on the van, then maybe you might be able to "convince" him to fit one
Obvioulsy that doesn't solve your long term issues with system debris but it will get you out of a fix mean time :D

I dont know what the Baxi policy is but many manufacturers will charge about £90 if you call them to a boiler which is operating correctly or has an installer's fault like a blocked plate hE.
