    Log Cabin Floor levelling

I can’t decide which flooring option is best for a 5m x 3m log cabin I have built. The cabin is laid on a 15cm thick concrete pad but the pad has a deviation of 10mm in places. There’s a bit of a hump in the middle as it chucked it down with rain as it was being poured and I didn’t get it...

Removal of Electric Shower - Installation of HP/Combi Shower

thanks. Re: reducing the 40Amp to 6Amp, I just thought perhaps it was best to limit the Ampage on the circuit for safety ( at source). I happened to have a 6Amp MCB I could use. I was thinking of an FCU, couldn't remember the name! Thanks for the help.

Removal of Electric Shower - Installation of HP/Combi Shower

My plumber is redoing my bathroom and has requested that I arrange for a 3amp spur to be available for the installation of a Digital HP/Combi Shower. I have two options but not sure which is the best one to choose. 1. When the old electric shower is removed, I replace the 40Amp MCB with a...

Routing of lighting circuit in Loft

If I were to clip the cables to the rafters I would have to bury the cables inside the insulation board? I plan to plasterboard over the rafters eventually to create a sealed loft room so trunking may look unsightly. Thanks for the response, I am going to get a local sparky out to take a look I...

Routing of lighting circuit in Loft

Can anyone please advise if it is acceptable to run a lighting circuit cable between Rafter Insulation Board and the Sarking Felt (1960s Bitumen type)? I have installed 75mm Ecotherm board between the rafters (which are standard 100mm) leaving a 25mm gap. I am considering running a 1.5mm...

Price to install floor joists in loftspace

Hi I have a quote to install approximately 12 5x2 joists into my loft space including covering with 18mm chipboard. The joists are to be hung from existing binders. The floor is part of a 'loft space' conversion. So no formal loft conversion. I have costed the material at approx...

Routing of electrical through an existing stud wall

to be honest I didn't think about it until you said it was a problem. from a bit of research max amperage of 6mm cable is 40A? The Consumer Unit is pretty old, im gonna get an electrician in to replace it as that way i should get a full audit /certification done on the wiring. cheers for...

Routing of electrical through an existing stud wall

Only reason I am considering it is because the electrics in the house were pretty dodgy when I bought the place. Cables pushed into the joist notches against CH Pipes ( they had started to melt). Unless I rip down the boxing around the waste pipe I have no way of knowing if the shower cable...

Routing of electrical through an existing stud wall

I am redoing my bathroom that currently has the shower electrical feed routing up through the floor boards, loose along the underside of the bath and into the loft through the waste pipe boxing. As this also houses the hot water feed from the boiler in the loft I don't think its the best...
