    Mildew/mould in bedroom

Great questions! You've got me thinking. There has been a little leaking of the roof nearby - but the mildew comes during dry weather too. I guess it would take time for the wall to completely dry through. I haven't checked the pointing. The proximity of the neighbour makes access awkard, and...

    Mildew/mould in bedroom

We have one room in our house that has a mildew problem. We have a 200-year-old, three story end terrace (solid, thick stone walls) and one bedroom (my daughter's) on the top floor gets a mildew build up on the gable wall. We can clean it down but it returns in a couple of months. None of the...

Toiler macerator - Horizontal run first?

Is this simply to ensure there is sufficient fall between the toilet and macerator? It won't be too difficult for me to increase the fall a little because I am installing a raised floor.

Toiler macerator - Horizontal run first?

Thanks guys. I am aware that the vertical should be first... I might investigate mounting it diagonally Alternatively, I could move the macerator around the room and pump vertically into the waste and have practically no horizontal section. I would need to extend the soil pipe out of the back...

Toiler macerator - Horizontal run first?

I'm looking to install a macerator in an underground room. I need to pump the waste up to a 4" soil pipe at ceiling level but, because of ceiling joists and the position of the existing soil pipe, I will struggle to do my vertical run first, as I know you are supposed to do. Running the...

    Mondeo headlight plug rewire

That's what I've been thinking. There is a pretty good breakers near me but I'm hoping to be able to avoid the eventuality... After all, it's only a bit of rewiring... How hard can it be?! ;)

    Mondeo headlight plug rewire

Thanks, but sadly not. They look like the plugs that attach to the back of the bulb itself. The plug I am talking about plugs into the back of the entire cluster - it carries about 8 separate wires for all the bulbs in the assembly. It's a black circular thing about 1" across. Unplugging it...

    Mondeo headlight plug rewire

I have just discovered my 2001 Ford Mondeo's headlight wiring is frayed and snapped so the headlight bulb is no longer connected. Unfortunately this damage is immediately behind the plug that connects the incoming wires to the socket on the headlight assembly so the splice/solder/reinsulate...

BSP nuts on a NPS thread

I can confirm that my 1" BSP nut does indeed fit onto my 1" NPS thread. I'm have no idea whether this is a watertight fit, or whether it can be made watertight with PTFE tape, but I don't need it to do that - I just need a solid, non-slip, and positive fit... which it achieves. :) Happy...

BSP nuts on a NPS thread

Thanks guys... Alrighty, so NPS has a 60deg angle on its threads, and BSP has a 55deg angle. and both appears to have 14 threads per inch... I figure this means that my BSP nut will fit my NPS heating element with a little BFI (Brute Force and Ignorance ) My elements will still be...

BSP nuts on a NPS thread

That's pretty much my thought - I just wondered if anyone has had experience of doing this - it's surprisingly difficult to find this information on the web.

BSP nuts on a NPS thread

Hi all Here's the situation - I'm building a brewery and I'm following instructions found on this page http://www.theelectricbrewery.com/heating-elements?page=7 Basically, the heating element is inserted through the skin of the brewing vessel and a seal is provided by a silicone...

    15A through a 13A plug

Thanks for your considered responses, guys. There's a lot for me to take in here. The reason for my upgrade is my plan for continued growth to go commercial. I am moving from 60l barrels to 200l and beginning to sell wholesale and retail. In terms of commercial scales, this could be...

    15A through a 13A plug

Hi All Just to start off, my understanding of electric wizardry is reasonable but basic. I have a brewery that I am upgrading in size and power. Here's the rough electrical plan... forgive me if I use the wrong terminology. Starting at the fuse board, there's a 30A fuse. Then a 30A...
