    Odd sized washer?

Been changing the washer on one of the bath taps and have discovered none of the washers I have will fit it (the assortment box of washers I've got seems to have washers for just about everything else  ). The size appears to be in between 1/2" and 3/4". I've flipped over the old...

ATTENTION all ppl who put DIYERS off

Yeah I couldn't agree more. I know someone who was involved in writing the IEE wiring regs. and they probably won't be allowed to do anything under Part P. As far as I can tell Part P is just another government muddle through.

ATTENTION all ppl who put DIYERS off

No that's more of a grammatical error ;) :D that's the sort of mistake a spell checker won't pick-up - my excuse is dyslexia but that's another story. Here's your spell checking medal

ATTENTION all ppl who put DIYERS off

Well put. I'm surprised some fools having started bleating that it's a basic human right to be able to change a CU or re-wire your house. I'm a chartered Electrical Engineer, I do some minor jobs but because I know my limitations (and I'm lazy 8) ) I'm happy leave a lot of things up to the...

    Thermal cutout / fuse

Thanks for the info Lectrician. Sadly the ye olde worlde electrical hardware stores seem to be a rare breed nowadays. Went to one that I'd been using on and off for years a while back only to find out they'd shut down without a trace :(

    Thermal cutout / fuse

Hi, anyone know where I can get my hands on a thermal cutout / fusible link for an oldish (10+ years) Heatstore night storage heater? The biggest problem is Unidare seem to use the same code for the fusible link. I know some companies manufacture stuff under two brand names but I'm still in...

    neutral as an earth

Neutral (Return) not being at 0v is true. The guy who (many moons ago) taught me elctrical engineering said there was just about enough P.D. between earth and netural to drive a door bell (and told us not to try it at home).

Timed towel rail and fan heater...

Try Malaysia, British style sockets with European wiring practices. Go into a bathroom in a Malaysian hotel and you'll find a British socket right next to the bathroom sink. Don't get me started on other wiring there...

    zip clips/ cable ties

The pint of beer or cider is specifically exempt from metrication along with the traditional doorstep pint of milk.

    zip clips/ cable ties

Yeah damn metric, can't buy 0.134 horsepower or 341 Btu/hour lightbulbs for love nor money nowadays ;)

    Damn my new light fitting

On a matter related to this, is it me or has there been a recent proliferation of light fittings that only have two connectors? I've fitted a fair few light fittings in my time, but in the past few months I've come across two that only had two conectors (in to which you could only fit one...

    Electrical Fires

I've heard that countless people die because of it every year. It's also a corrosive material yet it's freely available in the shops. ;)
